Our curriculum focuses on establishing a rich English learning environment and creating English learning experiences to make learning fun.
Experiential Learning
To bring the joy of learning, various activities are incorporated to provide experiential learning opportunities for the students to apply the language in authentic contexts.
Promotion of Reading
Starting with phonics and children's literature, P.1 students acquire basic reading skills in a fun way. Extending to other grade levels, a variety of reading-related programmes and activities are organised inside and outside the classroom to increase exposure to different language arts. More importantly, to nurture ‘Reading to learn’.
Learning Support and Enrichment
Small group teaching in some grade levels is organised to support students with learning difficulties or to enrich the learning for more able students. Extra activities, such as English Drama, Puppetry, or Reading Clubs are also organised to stretch students’ potential.
Global Exposure
English is a common language all over the world. Global Campus opens the window for students in CYMCAPS to reach out to different parts of the world such as Finland, Australia, America and Singapore. Besides, through the connections from YMCA, we are glad to have German interns joining our English programmes every year. Other activities such as the ‘Summer Programme for Immersion in Communicative English (SPICE) camp’ also provide ample opportunities for students to reach out to different cultures and apply their English skills in authentic ways. |
