Objectives
The English curriculum is designed to empower students and build their confidence as they learn English as a second language. It aims to:
Curriculum Features
We aim to foster a vibrant, immersive English learning environment that captures students' curiosity and encourages joyful engagement.
The curriculum seamlessly integrates hands-on, interactive experiences that bring English learning to life. By aligning learning with students’ real-world contexts, language development is both enjoyable and personally relevant.
Experiential Learning
Language learning reaches beyond textbooks—it’s about active experience and practical application.
Students participate in activities that allow them to use English in real-world settings, helping bridge classroom lessons with everyday situations. These experiences make learning dynamic, meaningful, and lasting.
Promotion of Reading
Reading is a central pillar of our English education journey.
In Primary One, students begin with phonics and engaging children’s stories, developing core reading abilities in a fun and imaginative way. As they advance, students explore various reading programmes and literary genres across grade levels. By promoting a "Reading to Learn" mindset, independent learning is encouraged, and it helps foster a lifelong passion for reading.
Learning Support and Enrichment
Recognizing that every learner is different, we adapt our teaching to meet individual needs and strengths.
Selected grade levels offer small-group instruction to support students who benefit from small group setting. For more capable learners, enrichment activities are provided—including drama, puppetry, and reading clubs—to nurture creativity and language fluency. These personalized learning opportunities help each student flourish and reach their full potential.
Global Exposure
English is a global language that connects people across cultures and communities.
Our Global Campus Programme expands students’ worldviews by linking them with peers in countries such as Finland, Australia, the United States, New Zealand, and Singapore. Through our partnership with YMCA, German interns join in the school annually, bringing rich cultural exchange to our English programmes. Moreover, the Summer Programme for Immersion in Communicative English (SPICE) camp offers immersive experiences where students apply their English skills in authentic and cross-cultural settings.
